THE FRENCH REVOLUTION

The Fall of the Bastille meant much more than the simple voice of the people, it meant the voice of a nation. Talking about a nation previous to the French Revolution turns to be more complex than the simple facts that took place there. It talks about a nationalistic feeling that was growing and which Enlightenment helped to demonstrate.

The Fall of the Bastille itself shows the level of oppostion the people had towards everything that connected them to the Middle Ages. They were finally gone, and the world was facing a new era, an era of nationalism, new ideas, new points of view, some of the radicals, moderates or maybe still royalists, but in general, the context shows us that the structure was over and the world was claiming for a fairier situation in which no jails such as the monarchy or the social system will be accepted.

Answer:

1) I think that the French Revolution is such an important event for the world of the time and for the changes that took place during that time, because it shows to the world a nationalistic feeling that was growing and which Enlightenment helped to demonstrate. And also it shows to all world that a change is possible and that they have to defend the declaration of rights of man and of the citizen, the world started to think basing in the ideas of enlightenment.

2)royalist: they thought that the power of king became from God (divine power), so no one can distroy or take out the power that was given from God, and that was the only political order that can defend the citizens from themselves and protects their rights.

3)The context that make the French Revolution happened, was the unhappiness of people, because France was an absolute monarchy with a week monarch and very unfair, they had excesive taxes for the peasants and bourgeoise. Also there was the age of Enlightenment and all ideas was affecting the people, and they become to be against the government. It was an unfair system, because nobody had an opportunity of raise of the commoners.

1) I think French Revolution is an important event because since then, ideas of independence and freedom started between the people. With it, they noticed that they could do it too and they could stop being under domination of an absolute monarchy or under another country. It also shows the people that they are free to defend what they think using a lot of the Enlightenment ideas.

2) Radicals: They were the ones who wanted an absolute change. They had really strong ideas about changing and reforms, and a stronger idea of every thought in Enlightenment.

3) I think there was a strong feeling of unhappines between the people in the lower class, they wanted the social system to be equal but at the same time, the upper class didn't want to pay taxes for them, even though they had more money. So the lower class was starting to think that they should make something for it.

1) I think that the French revolution was important because people from that time were being influenced by the enlightenment ides; they refused to keep the system of middle ages because most of them, specially the people from the lower classes, considered it an unfair system and consequently they were claiming for a change.
The French revolution was an example for other colonies, it was an example of a nation which was unhappy because the government was not respecting them as individuals, disrespecting their natural rights, and therefore they rebelled against it; this inspired other colonies to rebel and to look for independence too.

2) I support the moderates because I think it is important for a nation to have a balance between the power of the King and the people’s opinions. The king shouldn’t rule with divine right and absolute power because having to much power leads into corruption, but giving the power to the people and having no one in charge would be a complete disaster, “a war of every man against every man”; therefore I think it is convenient to keep the King in charge, but limiting it’s power by imposing a Parliament based on a constitution to make sure that they respect the people’s rights.

3) People from the third state were very angry; they were claiming for power, they were claiming for justice, they were demanding a fair system with no taxation without representation. This video shows a clear image of the people’s desperation which lead into violence and death; the fall of Bastille was a symbol of this people’s unhappiness and also a symbol of freedom and change.

1) I think the French Revolution is an important event because the people that were suffering have any rights and have to pay a lot of taxes for people who had more money than they. This was an unfair system for a lot of years and with this event they could change this and with the enlightenment ideas try to do a better country using and hearing all the ideas of the people.
2) Moderates: I think it was the better one because any extreme is good, have to be a balance between both of them. Also because the can have the king but with a limited power and a constitution that helps a lot the people that have lees privileges. Also an equilibrium between the 3 powers.

3) The causes of the French Revolution were the unfair system, king have an absolute power but he was to young and weak that only waste a lot of money making to increase the tax only for the third class. The third class was very angry, they want to change this and helped with the enlightenment ideas the began this revolution.

1. I think that the French Revolution was an important event, because since this event people began to think in independence ideas of liberty, equality, freedom of speech, etc. Also after the French Revolution it was declared the Men’s rights, were is the Enlightenment ideas, that nowadays are important and also during that time.

2. I think that the moderates were the best one because it holds an intermediate position between two extremes viewpoints. It had balanced ideas. Always the extremes are bad.

3. People especially from the third estate was against King Louis XVI. France was bankruptcy and was helping the Americans revolutionaries. So the King and the Queen didn’t have money for them. They made more taxes so the third states (very poor) had to pay more. The third estate was against the unfair system. Also appeared the Enlightenment ideas and people were demanding these ideas of equality, liberty, freedom of speech, and protection.

1) I think that the French Revolution was such an important event because, it helped people to have a new and different vison of the world. For example with the new ideas(enlightenment)they have. Also it was important because as a consequence of this revolution we have the declaration of the human rights (that obiously is something very important for us, because with this declaration we can defend our rights), and finally it was the first state to become a nation.

2) It think moderates were like the "perfect ones" because France was passing through a period of time where things were difficul and we have many conflicts. So the moderates wanted to have a change but not a complete change; I mean, they take the good things they had and joined it with other ideas so they don't had a complete change, but a good change that could helped France (in that time).

3) According to the videos, the main causes and context in which the french revolution ocurred, was because of the unfair system France had, mainly because of the taxes and also because the king and the queen weren't good prepare to ruled a nation. So the organization was a disaster, and it made people revolt violently. This were the main cuases and context in which this rvolution ocurred.

1) It was an impotant event because it was the first country in Europe that had a democratic nation and showed that alone cpuld handle their nation without the need of a king tat took all the decisions for the people.
There was also the declaration of human rights that showed the town they had rights, that they should be respected, and there was no reason to be under the control of a monarchy.
That two main changes influence the world of that time. NOt only in Europe, but also in America.

2) radicals: they wanted to make a notable change. Wanted to change completely the way they had been working till that time.
I think in part they were right because they really needed a radical change that showed liberty, but a the same time it was a risk because they didn't know how people were going to react and if maybe it was going to be a big disaster.

1.I think that French revolution was important because with this revolution new ideas triumphed changing many aspects of society of that time. It was a clear example of the application of enlightenment ideas not only in a political way, also in society. By looking at this example the rest of the world could notice that there are better ways of living, instead of being under control they could have control, and if they are well organized they could change what the wanted. It also showed people they have rights and they could defend them.

2.I support moderates because people didn’t agree with the absolute power so it couldn’t stay like that and they couldn’t have a complete change because they wouldn’t know how to rule themselves and it would be a disaster. I thing that keeping a king and having a parliament to control him was the better idea.

3.I think that the main causes were the unhappiness of people of the third state and the way of thinking of people from the first and second state, they wanted to have everything but at the same time didn’t wanted to pay taxes, they wanted that the once that don’t had any privilege pay them. People from the first state were looking for equality, they tried many pacific ways of getting this but any had results so without any choice and they started fighting. I also think that the way that third state people though came mainly from enlightenment ideas.

1. I think that the French Revolution was important because it was the declaration of human rights and thatthe people noticed that they were under control of the obsolute monarchy so they revealt and one of the consecuences was that it was the first country to have democracy.

2. Moderates: they wanted to have a constitutional monarchy because they wanted to save the good things about the king and also they wanted to change things and have a balance.

3. According to the videos the French revolution happened because of the unfair system, and the taxation without a representation so these cause a "mess" in France, and all the people were acting violently.

1. Before the French Revolution people, especially from the lower class had no so many rights. They think there was no equality, and they wanted a change. Because of this, they rebelled against the monarchy. This was an example of independence for other colonies. Some other colonies were inspired in them, and also fight for their rights. The consequence of these colonies was their independence.
The French Revolution was one of the first revolve of liberty from people respect to the form of government.
Also, with The French Revolution, they obtain the declaration of rights of man and of the citizen. In addition, there was a change in the government; from being an absolutist government, it turned to a parliamentary government.

2. I think that moderates were the best political position taken. Moderates wanted a change in the government for being better. They wanted to have a King, but with a constitution. They wanted a King, but also more rights. They wanted to have more freedom of speech and to be equal.
This was better, because having an absolute power, always brings corruption and differences among people. These differences bring revolutions and problems between the monarchy and people. I think it’s good that a King governs, but having a balance with a constitution would be better. Having a Parliament power the King can govern and put order in the country, also putting equality in rights and benefits.

3. In these videos, we can see that people from the lower class (from the third state) were desperate and unhappy with the King. We can see that they don´t have rights. Also we can notice that they were claiming for a fair system with a good or no taxation. They also were demanding for justice, power, rights and equality. With the video we can appreciate that with all these unfair things, unhappiness and desperation were brought fights, deaths, etc. In a way of demonstrating this, people did the “fall of Bastille”, finding a big change in the monarchy and freedom.

1. - I think that the French Revolution was very important event for the world of that time and for the main changes that took place during the time because the people had a react about the things that they dislike or that were unfair. They didn’t want to be controlled by their king, the also wanted to be free and express themselves. That’s why they wanted to do something about it and the made a revolution by using Enlightenment ideas.

2. - I think that the best ones are the moderates. They weren’t in the extremes, so they can take the best ideas from the royalists and also from the radicals and made a balance. They support the monarchy but also the people and this is perfect to have a good government.

3. - The things that made the French Revolution happened were the unhappiness of the third class because the unfair system that
lead the king. Also the third class were protesting about the taxation that the king made them pay (when they were the poor ones)and the first and the second class didn't want to pay. The king was very young so he didn't ruled very well. The enlightment ideas also helped the people to be agaist the king and began the revolution.

a) I considered this revolution, one of the most important ones because of the changes it have been made and because of the example that it have made for the other colonies. Society for example, liberalism and human rights, this happened because people start realizing about their freedom, they were not being respect as individuals, they were now, thinking about the unfair system, in this case, the absolute monarchy. But the enlightenment ideas appeared, and people start having a different view about the world.
So, this French revolution have made the most essential thing one colony could do, the inspiration of being free as individuals with a rebel that change the world.

b) In my opinion, moderates, because it was a political change for equal privileges and rights in the first state between the king and the parliament. The king has a limited power, and the parliament, the constitution that helped the king on having a balance between rights.

c) These videos represent the answer of the people in the less class to the king. France was suffering a big disorder in and out the government; the unfair system was the main cause for people to revolt and start taking so violent reactions. The fall of Bastille was the end and the start of changes in the look of trying to find equality, freedom.
It became”Symbol of royal tyranny”.

a) I think that the french revolution was important because the idea of independence started.so the people wouldnt be under domination of a king of absolute power. it shows that people fight for their rights.

b) i support the moderates because it have to be a balance between the monarch and the people. the king can have absolute power because it have to be democracy an freedom of speech, because the people deserve that rights.

c) people from the first state were angry because they have few money to survive and they have to pay taxes because the first and the second state didnt wanted. they also were angrey beacause they havent the same rights as the 2 other states.
that causes the prench revolution: the unhapiness of the people.

1) I think that French Revolution was such an important event for the time and for the main changes that took place, because the French Revolution made lots of changes like for example, a new constitution, it kept the monarchy but now it has a limited power. And I think this is very important, because this change brought more equality to social clases. The monarchy made many injustices, it didn´t gave freedom to the people, so they started to revele.

2) I choose the moderates, I think they were the most conscientious political position, they wanted freedom for people and more equality in estates, they also wanted a monarchy that governs, but they don´t wanted to have a king that governs with absolute power because it was unfair for them. They were conscientious that without a monarchy governing there, people will disorganize and it will be a disaster.

3) I think that the third estate was in disagree with the government, absolute power. Because they had very few rights and also because taxes were every time more, and the monarchy press them to pay and to do things they can´t; also enlightened ideas infuenced there.
